About Our State Pageants
The Miss United Southern States State Pageants are designed to provide contestants with a fun, organized, and family-friendly pageant experience while selecting the official queens who will advance to the Miss United Southern States National Pageant.
Our state events combine the charm of a hometown pageant with the prestige and opportunities of a national system. Contestants compete within their age or grade-level divisions in a supportive environment where confidence, personality, and stage presence are celebrated.
To keep the event enjoyable for contestants and families, the State Pageant is divided into separate competition sessions throughout the day. Each group competes during its scheduled time block and then crowns immediately after competition. This structure helps prevent long waiting periods and keeps the day moving smoothly for everyone.
Our goal is simple — to create a professional pageant experience that is also relaxed, organized, and fun for families.
Our motto says it best:
“Be Kind. Be Yourself. BeYOUtiful.”
What Happens at the State Pageant
The competition format is designed to be simple, enjoyable, and accessible for contestants of all experience levels.
Beauty Competition
Contestants will present themselves on stage wearing a formal dress or pageant gown that makes them feel confident and beautiful.
Judges evaluate contestants based on:
-
Overall appearance
-
Stage presence
-
Confidence and poise
-
Personality and presentation
Our judges are looking for contestants who are naturally beautiful, confident, and enjoying their time on stage.
Walking Pattern
There is no required walking pattern for the gown competition.
Contestants may walk the stage in the way that feels most comfortable and natural to them. This format also allows contestants to practice for other pageant systems if they choose to compete elsewhere.
Family-Friendly Standards
Miss United Southern States is a family-friendly pageant system, and all competition attire should reflect this.
Gowns should be age appropriate. We do not recommend:
-
Plunging necklines
-
High slits
-
Overly revealing cutouts
Contestants should present themselves in a way that reflects elegance while remaining appropriate for a family audience.
